Counterintuitive Thinking (opinion)

Here are some points made in John H. Richardson's latest opinion piece from Esquire magazine. His ideas are just brilliant!

Richardson talks about 3 main points in his opinion piece: abortion, guns, and same-sex marriage. For the first two he makes the very simple deduction that many people don't realize. In countries where abortion is legal, it happens less often. (Lowest Abortion rates: Belgium, Netherlands, Germany. All legal. Highest Abortioin rates: Africa, Latin America, Caribbean. All illegal.) As for guns, in states where gun rules are much more lax, more homicides occur.

His final topic is what I was most interested about: same-sex marriage and what it means to heterosexual marriages. Richardson talks about how in countries in Europe where same-sex marriage is legal, traditional marriage has not changed extremely little (if any). He even points to Massachussetts where same-sex marriages have been legal for over 4 years now. The divorce rates in the state of Massachussetts have remained steady and have not dramatically changed. So, same-sex marriages have not influenced marriages at all. So that argument should be just thrown out by intellectual humans (which usually vote for same-sex marriage anyway... just saying)

So if you have a minute you should go read his opinion piece. It's very enlightening. You can read it here.
