Prince - Thoughts on Prop 8

Apparently earlier last year a rumor started spreading around that the infamous singer Prince was pro prop 8, the horrendous (illegal) proposition that stripped the rights of millions of individuals in the state of California to be married.

This last Tuesday Ann Powers from the LA Times got a chance to meet Prince himself and do an interview. Naturally Prop 8 came up in discussion. Prince was straight to the point negating the fact that was pro prop 8. In fact he even mentioned that he has gay friends and that they go bible reading together. He also mentioned that he did not vote at all, which means that he didn't even vote on prop 8 itself anyway. He only stated 'that two sides fighting "only benefit the third person" who instigated the fight'.

Hey Prince,
Grow some balls and vote. Just because you have gay friends doesn't make you 'not a homophobe.' Just like you can have black friends and still be racist against blakcs. It is not what you say, but what you do that speak truly. And guess what, you did nothing. In my book, that is as good as voting for prop 8 because you allowed people to take the rights away from individuals and you did not stand up for them. Instead you sat in a corner and allowed it to happen.

And guess what, if you did that same thing when someone is beating up a homosexual, if you just sat there, that would still make you an accomplice since you didn't do anything. Inaction is still action, it is the choice to let things go the way they are already going. Which in California and the rest of the U.S. seems to be going as low as the economy.
