Maureen Mullarkey, a 66 year old artist, did just that. Mullarkey was best known for her paintings of gay-pride parades, but this artist donated \$1,000 to Proposition 8 which banned gay marriages.When asked about it she replied to a reporter, "If you write that story, I'll sue you." Too bad everyone knows about it now. She's lucky I never bought any of her stuff or else I would be right back in her shop asking for a full refund.
She said she paints pride parades because they were spectacles and a show of solidarity. Well, she probably just lost all the solidarity from the gay people buying her art, and lord knows the people who voted for Prop 8 wouldn't buy her work either. I wonder how she will make money?
