Californian Democrats Push for Gay Rights

After Proposition 8 passed many organizations were angry, but at least it looks like some politicians are listening and are taking matters into their own hands.

California has a few bills and resolutions that are in the works in order to give rights to same-sex couples throughout California.

Assembly Bill 103 would give couples who co-own a house to not have their property tax reevaluated when one of the two dies.

Sen. Mark Leno has talked about re-introducing a bill that would make May 22 Harvey Milk day in honor of Harvey Milk and his fight for gay rights.

Senate Resolution 5 and House Resolution 7 would go against Proposition 8 and would declare Prop 8 and invalid resolution and that any further changes to constitution that would eliminate a fundamental right to a minority group must be passed by the legislature before it is placed on the ballot.

Go Democrats!
